Big changes with the Cambridge RedHawks

Coaches, GM let go and Eric Boissonneault is now listed as the team's director of hockey operations, the same role he's listed as serving with the Brantford Bandits

Just weeks after being eliminated from the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs, the Cambridge RedHawks appear to be flying in a different direction.

The team's coaches and general manager have been relieved of their duties and rumours persist that the team is under new ownership, or in the process of being sold.

Eric Boissonneault is now listed as the team's director of hockey operations and Todd Hoffman is listed as its general manager. The two are also listed under the same roles as the GJOHL's Brantford Bandits.

Boissonneault was part of the group that bought the Bandits in 2023 and attempted, unsuccessfully, to relocate the team to Kitchener.

An announcement introducing the two on the RedHawks social media channels and website has since been deleted.

When contacted for comment on the situation, Boissonneault declined to share details but said he could speak more within the coming weeks.

Multiple follow up calls for clarity went unanswered.

When reached by phone, GOJHL interim commissioner Tim Simmons declined to comment but said more information could likely be provided in the coming days.

The source with knowledge of the situation also confirmed those previously serving in the hockey operations department with the RedHawks have been relieved of their duties. This is backed by the fact there are no names listed under the hockey operations section of the team's website.

Those serving in business operations roles are still listed.

More to come.
