When Cambridge was granted a junior B lacrosse team prior to the 2023 season, it was a positive step in promoting the sport in the city.

Now, the Cambridge Highlanders Minor Lacrosse Association is trying to carry that momentum into 2024 as it attempts to further grow the sports popularity.

A free try lacrosse event is coming to the ComDev Indoor Soccer Park on Fountain Street North on Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is open to all ages and anyone who's interested in learning about the sport.

Helmets, gloves and running shoes are required. The organization will provide sticks if needed.

The association is also looking for referees and time keepers for the upcoming season. The minimum age to become a referee is 14. Time keepers must be at least 13 years old.

A referee clinic is being held in Cambridge on April 14. Questions regarding certification can be sent to [email protected].

Registration for the free try lacrosse session can be done here.
