The Cambridge RedHawks offseason is in full swing as they've made a series of moves to tweak their roster.

Former captain and Cambridge native Matt Fries has been acquired by the St. Catharines Falcons.

Fries had a career year in 2023-24, scoring 25 goals and adding 29 assists for 54 points in 42 regular season games. During the RedHawks five game first round playoff series against Elmira, he found the back of the net three times and had four assists.

The team also announced they've re-signed Cameron Fries. The younger of the Fries brothers and assistant captain scored 11 goals and notched seven assists in 44 games this past season.

Both Fries brothers played within the Cambridge Minor Hockey Association system.

It's been a busy few months for the RedHawks as they've also come under new ownership and named a new coaching staff.

The seven person ownership group, led by Eric Boissonneault and Rob McIntosh, took over the team from Scott and Kelly Hunter in April.

Last month, they hired Mike McIlveen as their new head coach and named Gerry Skrypec, Jordan Hatzinger and Rob Radford assistant coaches.
