Water Ski Canada has announced that the grand finale of the Waterski Pro Tour, set to create waves in Groveland, Florida, Sept. 22 to 24 will not be just any water ski competition.

The Travers Grand Prix Pro-Am, which will include Cambridge native Whitney McClintock Rini, will introduce a team format, the organization said in a news release.

"It is a unique sporting extravaganza where professional water skiers join forces with amateurs to bring a spectacle both on and off the water," Water Ski Canada said.

"Together, they will face challenging and exhilarating rounds in slalom, adrenaline-pumping go-karting, and precision-demanding skeet shooting."

Every event will add to the overall team score. By the end of the weekend, only one team will have the honour of being crowned the Team Champions.

While the team event promises fun and camaraderie, the spotlight will also shine brightly on the professional skiers who will be competing for the title of the Travers Grand Prix Champion, Water Ski Canada said.

In addition to Cambridge's McClintock Rini, Canada is represented by Paige Rini, Jaimee Bull, Cole McCormick and Jamie Calhoun, all of Ontario, and Dorien Llewellyn of Alberta.

Fans who can't be there in person can watch the event livestreamed via the Waterski Broadcasting Company.
