Cambridge's Whitney McClintock Rini is headed to Alberta this weekend to compete in the MasterCraft Slalom Shootout.

Cambridge water skier Whitney McClintock Rini will be back on the world stage this weekend.

McClintock Rini is one of six national and junior national team members competing in the MasterCraft Slalom Shootout from Aug. 4 to 6 at the Predator Bay Ski Club on the Lakes at Kastyn Stone.

Seven other members of the two teams will hit the water as part of the Calgary Cup Overall Tour taking place at the same time.

The MasterCraft Slalom Shootout is a highlight of the WaterSki Pro Tour and is known for attracting the top water skiers in the world.

McClintock Rini heads into the competition off a third place finish at the Masters Waterski and Wakeboard Tournament in Pine Mountain, Georgia back in May.

She's been a standout for Water Ski Canada for over a decade, having won several championships and awards throughout her career.

Growing up on Puslinch Lake in a family full of water skiers, the Cambridge native is an 11-time Pan Am Games medallist, five times winning gold, and a six-time world champion.

“Cambridge and Puslinch Lake will always be my home,” she told CambridgeToday last fall.

“I grew up in a place that facilitated and supported my growth in my sport. I will always call Cambridge home and will always be grateful that my family decided to take up roots on Puslinch Lake.”
