Cambridge council made it official Tuesday night, approving an agreement that outlines Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada’s (TMMC) $250,000 sponsorship for the naming rights of the Cambridge Soccer Complex main building, now known as the “TOYOTA Fieldhouse” on 880 Linden Dr.

Toyota’s funding will support capital costs associated with the main building of the recreation facility which anchors three high-performance synthetic turf and three premium natural turf full-size fields, that welcomed its first patrons earlier this month.

“Business leaders in our community like Toyota are a key piece in making projects of this scope possible,” said Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett in a press release.

“TMMC continues to show up as a strong and caring corporate partner, through their employment opportunities, their active corporate giving programs and now through this generous sponsorship donation. Thanks to their generous contribution, our new state-of-the-art facility is a space where everyone is welcome and able to celebrate a love for sport.”

The fieldhouse is a 7,250-sq.-ft. service building that incorporates washrooms, changerooms, a community room, staff room and equipment storage. The bright, vibrant space will support a variety of community uses and be home to a project donor wall to proudly display those who have contributed funding.

“Investing in the communities where our team members and their families live is important for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and sponsoring the upcoming Soccer Complex fieldhouse is a great way to do so,” said Frank Voss, president, TMMC.

“Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada is pleased to help make this beautiful new soccer complex a reality for Cambridge residents.”

The sponsorship provided toward the TOYOTA Fieldhouse is part of a larger campaign to fundraise up to $2 million to support the capital costs for the Cambridge Soccer Complex.
