The Fountain Street Soccer Complex is set to open in the spring.

Despite not being operational until the spring of 2024, per hour rates to use the Fountain Street Soccer Complex have already increased over 2023.

According to the draft 2024 City of Cambridge budget, the increases are to reflect inflation.

Rates will be the highest for those hoping to use the three new artifical turf fields.

Adults and private groups can expect to pay $129.40 per hour, up from an anticipated $123.24.

The price for minor sports organizations and community school groups jumped almost four dollars to $77.64 from $73.94.

Non-residents can expect to pay the most for using the new facility. Originally pegged for $147.89, the price is now set at $155.28.

It's common for rates to increase year-over-year to keep up with inflation and costs of maintenance. Other fields and diamonds will see a similar hike.

Gateman-Milloy Inc., the company that’s been helping lead construction, has been in charge of the site since July 2022 and ran into some problems with the supply of materials needed to complete the project causing the delay of the grand opening, the city said back in August.

“As is common in the current construction climate, supply-chain issues have impacted several critical site elements, resulting in schedule challenges,” Shane Taylor, project manager for the city said.

“Construction is expected to be completed before the end of 2023 so the complex can be ready for the 2024 soccer season.”

The delays aren't anticipated to impact programming beginning in 2024.
