Former Cambridge Hawk named GOJHL Top Goaltender

Cambridge Minor Hockey product Nolan Chartrand has been named the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Top Goaltender.

Current Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins goalie and former Cambridge Minor Hockey graduate Nolan Chartrand has been named the Gus Crescenzi Award winner as the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Top Goaltender.

Chartrand appeared in 31 games, collecting 24 wins and led the league with eight shutouts during the regular season. He posted a 1.94 goals against average and a .928 save percentage to back the Siskins to a first place finish.

So far in this year’s playoffs he’s 5-1 with a 1.12 GAA and a .938 save percentage.

Prior to joining the Siskins, the 18-year-old Kitchener native split the 2021-2022 season between the Elliot Lake Red Wings and Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the GOJHL. 

He also played in four games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts.

Chartrand was a seventh round selection of the Colts in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection after posting a 2.80 goals against average and two shutouts in 18 games for the Cambridge Hawks U16 AAA team in 2019-2020.

The Siskins currently lead the Elmira Sugar Kings 3-2 in their best-of-seven Midwestern Conference semi-final series.
