Cambridge native Riley Silva will begin playing ball with the University of Nebraska in August.

Cambridge outfielder Riley Silva picked up a pair of accolades earlier this week for his strong play at Barton Community College in 2023.

Silva was named to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West First Team and the All-Region VI Second Team.

Playing in 55 of the Cougars 61 games, Silva finished with a .368 average to go along with a .475 on-base percentage and a .487 slugging percentage.

He led the team in stolen bases with 44 and triples with six. His stolen base total was the second most during a single season in program history.

The Cougars won their second consecutive KJCCC West Title and were ranked sixth nationally, posting a 51-10 record.

Silva, a St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School graduate, announced his commitment to the University of Nebraska earlier this month.
