The southbound section of the Hespeler Road bridge over Highway 401, seen here on the left, will now be demolished April30. All traffic will be rerouted to the new bridge, seen in an early stage of construction on the right.

The date to demolish the southbound Hespeler Road bridge over Highway 401 has been changed due to scheduling issues according to Doug Schoneveld, contract administrator for Morrison Hershfield Limited.

The new dates are as follows: starting the week of April 18, the northeast and southeast ramps from Hespeler Road to the 401 will be closed for 36 hours so all traffic can be rerouted onto the new northbound bridge in advance of demolition of the southbound bridge.

Starting Saturday, April 30 at 9 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, Highway 401 will be closed at the interchange and traffic will be detoured around the area as workers demolish the southbound bridge.
