DECEMBER 2, 1959 – JANUARY 18, 2024

Early Thursday morning January 18th, 2024, at the age of 64, Gina passed away peacefully at the Innisfree Hospice House in Kitchener, Ontario. In her last days she was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas “Tam” Herning and Annie MacMillan Herning. She leaves a wonderful legacy of family and friends that will all remember her fondly, including her husband Richard (Rick) of 39 years, and her sons Michael (Mike), and his wife Rachel, and Christopher (Chris). Her love and memory will also be dearly missed “back home” in England by her aunt, Susan MacGregor.

Gina was born on December 2nd, 1959, in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1967 with her family. Gina was a co-owner of the original Hotsy Cleaning Systems – Ontario Sales and Service with her husband Rick for 30 years where she worked with her family and her best work mate, Maggie, her dog. Gina worked there until 2018 when the business was sold, and she retired. Gina made many close friends that she could always count on for love and support, becoming an extended family in the process.

Gina’s love for her garden was second to none and you could always find her there, always trying to make her garden a thing of beauty. When she was not in the garden you could always find her and her husband off on their Harley motorcycle just taking the road wherever it would take them.

Gina’s family would like to thank the entire staff of doctors, nurses, PSW’s, and volunteers at the Innisfree Hospice House for the professional, competent, and dedicated care and support Gina received during the short time with them.

The family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 24th at 6:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to the Innisfree Hospice House would be appreciated by the family. Friends and relatives are invited to sign Gina’s book of condolence at www.couttsfuneralhome.com
