JANUARY 3, 1957 – DECEMBER 27, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and sister, Janet Anne Butts, after a brief illness, on Monday, December 27th at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ontario. Loving mother of Amanda Coates and cherished sister of Richard (Lucy) Butts and Mary (Mark) Watson.
Janet was predeceased by her parents Donald and Rena Butts and her two infant children, Kate and Max McNab. Janet was born in London, Ontario but spent childhood summers in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and always considered her parents' birthplace to be her home. Her love of Nova Scotia never waned. She attended and graduated from St Francis Xavier University, and took every opportunity to visit and maintain ties with friends and family on the east coast throughout her life.
Janet was an avid reader and a great storyteller who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was just as happy in large social gatherings as she was curled up with a good book, but her greatest joy was her daughter, Amanda.
As per her wishes, a small ceremony will take place next summer when Janet is interred near family members.
Our family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they provided to Janet. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
