Don McIntyre passed peacefully on Saturday, April 20th at Seasons Cambridge in his 95th year.

Don was born in Alexandria, Scotland to Hugh and Annie McIntyre on April 15, 1930. Dear husband of (late) Irene McIntyre and father of daughters Laurie Thompson (Todd) and Marion Greenly (Jeremy). Dearly missed by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.

Greatly missed by his loving wife of 29 years, Margaret Donald and stepfather to daughter Lesley Vander Welle (Tim), and sons, Steven Donald (Chris), and Allan Donald. Deeply missed by 4 grandchildren.

As a member of the Armed Forces, Donald enlisted in the Royal Airforce, RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire, England at age 18. He was stationed in Egypt for 9 months, Falkland Islands for 9 months and in Germany for 6 months, as a Member of the Military Police. Don was selected as one of the Honour Guards at King Georges Funeral in 1952.

He made his home in Canada in 1957 and worked for many years in his trade as a Licensed Carpenter at the University of Guelph.

Don and Margaret enjoyed Lake Huron for many summers and travel to Europe, Caribbean, Bahamas and Greece. A travel goal realized, most memorable to Don was to the Eagle’s Nest in Bavaria.

Friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at Grand Valley Golf and Country Club this Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1 to 4 pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Donald McIntyre.
