June 12, 1922 – November 22, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Thelma Paul on November 22, 2023 at the age of 101.

Thelma was the loving and dedicated mother of Marjorie and David (Thian). A proud grandmother to her grandsons Brian (Natalie), Matthew, Eric (Heidi) and Gary and great grandsons Marshall, Malcolm, Kane, Owen and Caden. Thelma was born and raised in the Borough of York neighborhood in Toronto, where she lived until the age of 87, before she moved to Newmarket, then Cambridge.

An avid volunteer, Thelma organized dances and social events for soldiers during World War 2, she was a member of CGIT (Canadian Girls in Training), and volunteered at Harwood Public School’s library for over 20 years. She enjoyed a long career at Sears for many years. With a sense of humour and dance moves that remained all of her 101 years, Thelma was an example of inward strength. She loved her family fiercely. As Marjorie and Brian held her hands at the end of her life, they felt the grip of her hands and love.

A special thank you to Fairview Mennonite Home who showed Thelma kindness, compassion and a sense of family during her final years. In keeping with her wishes, a cremation has taken place. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
