David Anthony Pust passed away peacefully at his home in Cambridge on Monday, April 3, 2023 in his 65th year.
Beloved husband of Nancy Pust (nee Heaps), loving father of Theresa Pust and cherished Papa to Jerome, Dayshaun and Madison. Dave is survived by his sister Lori, her husband Bob Issenman, his brother Dan, his wife Carrie Marshall, and his brother-in-law Michael Heaps. Dave will be greatly missed by his many Pust and Heaps nieces and nephews, as well as by his friends, his fire fighter community and beloved kitties. Dave will be reunited with his parents, Don and Betty.
Following his father’s footsteps, Dave devoted his life to the service of others, first volunteering on the Durham Fire Department for 12 years before serving on the Cambridge Fire Department for the next 30 years. He responded to his last call in 2019, reluctantly retiring at the age of 60. It might be said that Dave’s natural modesty masked his considerable gifts and accomplishments - he was a world traveller, setting foot on every continent at least once, he was a quick wit and gave wise counsel to those fortunate enough to seek it. He was an avid fisherman. Above all, Dave was greatly respected by all who knew him and will be remembered for his valour, his innate decency and his unfailing kindness.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge.
