JANUARY 8, 1961 – JANUARY 7, 2024

Peter died peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home on Sunday January 7, embraced in the love of his family and his Fairview care givers.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Marg, Susan, Bob, Paul and Gail and their spouses, and his adoring nephews and nieces and their families. He is predeceased by his father John Rappolt, mother Elizabeth Rappolt (Culham), stepmother Jean Rappolt (Smith), and his dear Mom and Dad Howell (Marguerite and Dalton).

Peter was a gentle, kind, and generous person who sometimes seemed to understand others better than they knew themselves. He bore the many challenges he faced with dignity and grace, providing lessons for us all. He had a wonderful sense of humour and kept us guessing. He was a natural athlete, a fantastic storyteller and prolific artist. He loved birthday parties and arranged to celebrate his own birthday several times a year.

The Rappolt family extends their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers and staff at Fairview Mennonite Home who provided a loving home, fun and friendship, and excellent health care for Pete. Peter walked bravely through his mental, physical and developmental challenges. This was the result of the tremendous support he received, and his friendships gained for over thirty years with Community Living Cambridge.

The spirit of Pete will be celebrated at a reception in the Fairview Mennonite Home Auditorium on Friday January 12, (5-7pm) and Saturday (2-4pm). Please bring your stories and reflections of Pete to share with others.

If you care to offer a donation in Peter’s honour, please consider contributing to Community Living Cambridge or Fairview Mennonite Home.

Fairview Mennonite Home is at 515 Lang’s Drive, Cambridge. Parking is at the Preston Mennonite Church, around the corner at 791 Concession Road. Please enter Fairview through the Pool Entrance.
