William Stewart, fondly known as Bill, passed away peacefully with a smile on his face in his 89th year on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, at Golden Years Nursing Home with his daughter Tracy, grandson Ryan, and loved ones at his side. He joined his beloved wife, Harriette, who preceded him in death in 2022.
Bill was a devoted father to Tracy Stewart, David Stewart and stepfather to Rick (Patricia) Barnhardt and Sheri (Peter) Koch. A proud grandpa to Ryan, Ashley, (Jakub) Cyperling and Samantha (Jake) he also cherished his role as great-grandfather to nine little ones.
Born in Hopeville, Ontario, Bill took great pride in his roots. A loving brother to Don, David, Ken, Helen, Shirley, and Marion, he was pre-deceased by his parents, Robert Stewart and Phyllis (nee Wiltshire), as well as his siblings Glen, Alan, Betty, Doug, Jim, Frank, and Daniel.
Bill's legacy extends beyond his family, touching the lives of friends and the community. A philanthropist at heart, he dedicated his time to various charities, including World Vision, and was an active member of Grace Bible Church.
Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Sunday, January 7th, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where friends and family can gather to honour his memory. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. As expressions of sympathy, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, a cause close to Bill's heart.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Golden Years Nursing Home for their compassionate care during Bill's time there. Bill will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
