AUGUST 21, 1940 – OCTOBER 22, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Whittet (nee Deans) on Sunday October 22, 2023 at the age of 83. She is survived by her loving children Raymond, Stephen, and Tara. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Tyler, James, and Stacey. She will be fondly remembered always by extended family & friends along with many nieces and nephews in Scotland who she adored. Margaret is pre-deceased by her parents James & Lily, as well as her cherished sisters Mary & Lily, and brothers Sandy, John, Alex, James, Robert, and Andrew.

Margaret was proudly born in Johnstone Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1964, settling in Cambridge with her family and making it her home. In her later years, she started and ran a very successful bus tour business which gave her the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people which she enjoyed immensely. In 1997 she was nominated for ‘Woman of the Year’ for her efforts within her community and for the personal connections she made. Margaret will always be remembered for her exceptional taste in home décor, her beautiful and carefully maintained gardens, and for her love and devotion to her family.

Special thanks to the staff at Lisaard House who cared for Margaret and our family in her final days and made her as comfortable as possible.

A Visitation will be held on Friday October 27, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd, Cambridge. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held following the visiting beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Preston Royal Canadian Legion, 334 Westminster Dr. N., Cambridge.

Donations in memory of Margaret can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and arranged through www.barthelfuneralhome.com
