Cambridge driver charged after crash near Stratford

Driver was transported to operations centre for drug recognition evaluation, OPP says

A driver has been charged as the result of an early morning crash on Saturday north of Stratford.

Officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Line 40 in the Township of Perth East on April 8 at around 4:45 a.m.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired by a drug, police said in a news release.

The driver was transported to hospital and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a drug recognition evaluation.   

As a result, a 24-year-old from Cambridge, has been charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 1.
