Cambridge man drowns at Trout Lake Quarry in Innerkip

A 58-year-old Cambridge male was pronounced dead after being pulled from the Trout Lake Quarry in Innerkip on Wednesday.

Oxford OPP say they were called to the George Street quarry around 12:45 p.m. for a possible drowning.

Members from OPP, East Zorra-Tavistock Fire Services from Innerkip and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended.

Witnesses reported that an individual entered the water from the shoreline and soon after began to struggle. 

Upon hearing calls for help, nearby civilians were able to pull the swimmer onto shore and began life saving measures.

The male was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Jorg Meinzer, of Cambridge.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for July 22.
