Cambridge residence part of large regional drug bust

The street value of all drugs seized is more than $760,000

The Waterloo Regional Police Service, in partnership with the Stratford Police Service and Woodstock Police Service, have completed a six-month joint investigation that has resulted in the significant seizure of drugs and weapons.

On Sept. 15, 2021, the police services completed several high-risk warrants at multiple residences, targeting illegal drugs, firearms and offence-related property. 

The warrants – completed in Cambridge, Kitchener, Stratford and the Town of St. Marys – led to the arrest of 14 individuals.

“This months-long investigation has eliminated a significant element of illegal crime in our communities and will have a positive impact on public safety,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “On behalf of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, I would like to thank Chief Greg Skinner and the Stratford Police Service for their assistance with this investigation, as well as Chief Daryl Longworth and the Woodstock Police Service for their assistance on this project. This investigation reiterates that the tentacles of crime expand beyond regional borders, and law enforcement agencies across the province and country must work together to target those who harm our communities with illegal trafficking and gun violence.”

Warrants were completed in the following areas of Waterloo Region and Perth County:

  • Wilson Avenue in Kitchener
  • Saginaw Parkway in Cambridge
  • Old Huron Road in Kitchener
  • Ontario and Waterloo Streets in Stratford
  • Front and Ontario Streets in Stratford
  • Warwick Road in Stratford
  • Nile Street in Stratford
  • McNab Street in Stratford
  • Water Street South in St. Marys

As a result of the investigation to date, 14 individuals, ranging in age from 25 to 51, have been charged with more than 90 criminal offences, including:

  • Conspiracy to traffic fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine
  • Trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Trafficking firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of firearms
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Police seized various quantities of suspected illegal drugs, including more than:
  • 5,300 grams of methamphetamine
  • 400 grams of cocaine
  • 2,400 grams of fentanyl
  • This equates to more than 95,000 street level doses of fentanyl.
  • Police also seized the following:
  • Seven firearms including, three handguns, two rifles, a carbine and a shotgun
  • Ammunition
  • Three Conducted Energy Weapons
  • Equipment to process and mix fentanyl
  • Equipment to press and package drugs

The street value of all drugs seized is more than $760,000. In addition, police seized more than $565,000 in currency and approximately $100,000 in alleged proceeds of crime, such as luxury watches and jewelry.
