Just one new fine was handed out in Waterloo Region in the last week for not following the COVID-19 safety measures.

It was a $240 ticket for failing to comply with the face-covering bylaw. It was issued by corporate security at 143 Concession Street in Cambridge.

The enforcement update was provided by Regional Chair Karen Redman during Friday's weekly COVID media briefing.

A multi-ministerial provincial inspection team was also recently in the area.

Redman said they inspected 76 local businesses and provided education on the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Reopening Ontario Act.
