Hamilton man charged after Cambridge firm defrauded of $140K

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a Hamilton man in connection with a fraud investigation involving a company in Cambridge.

In February 2022, police received a report from a business about potential internal fraud. Police then commenced an investigation. 

On Feb. 10, 2023, investigators arrested a suspect after an extensive, year-long investigation into the alleged defrauding of a local Cambridge company of approximately $141,000. 

A 41-year-old Hamilton male was charged with fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime, police said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Commercial Fraud Unit.
