Hamilton man robbed while meeting for sex faces child luring charge

A Hamilton man who came to Waterloo region with the notion that he was meeting a female youth for sex, and was robbed by "several" men, has now been charged by Waterloo regional police with child luring.

Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit (GIU) arrested the 29-year-old Hamilton man Feb. 8 after he called Hamilton Police Service to report the robbery.

Earlier in the day Feb. 8, at around 11 a.m., police said the man drove to Waterloo Region after arranging to meet a female youth for a sexual purpose.

Upon arrival at a pre-determined location in Kitchener, the man was confronted by several adult males who demanded money from him.

The man transferred money to the men and fled the area in his vehicle.

The Hamilton man then reported the incident to the Hamilton Police Service, which notified WRPS investigators

At approximately 6:10 p.m. that evening, WRPS officers arrested and charged the 29-year-old with luring a child and obtaining sexual services for consideration.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
