Impaired charges laid after vehicle flips, lands in ditch

Police says driver of blue BMW lost control and left the roadway; officers believe there were other vehicles in the ditch at the time of the incident

Waterloo Regional Police have laid charges after a motor vehicle collision in Woolwich Township.

On Nov.19, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Shantz Station Road near Vance Road.

Through the initial investigation, police determined that the driver of a blue BMW lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle entered the ditch and flipped onto its hood.

There were no physical injuries reported.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 29-year-old Cambridge male, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration

It is believed that there were other vehicles also in the ditch at the time of the incident, including a black Honda Civic. Investigators are looking to speak to witnesses that were in the area at the time of the collision.
