RCMP plans new investigative team as part of cybercrime strategy

A 43-year-old London man is facing charges of child luring and making child porn available after Waterloo regional police's cybercrime - internet child exploitation unit arrested him following an undercover investigation last month.

Police say an officer with the unit posed as a youth for its online undercover investigation in November.

An adult male initiated contact with the undercover officer and described sexual acts towards the youth. The male then planned to meet the youth for a sexual purpose and was arrested by officers when he arrived.

Police charged the man with two counts of making child pornography available and one count of luring a child.

The man was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet.

Their investigation has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
