Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old Kitchener man with impaired driving after he was ejected from his motorcycle in a collision with a vehicle on Gore Road, east of the city last night.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he was charged for operation while impaired, refusing to comply with a demand and operating a vehicle while prohibited.

Waterloo regional police say the accident happened at the intersection of Gore Road and Shellard Side Road in North Dumfries Township shortly after 11 p.m.

Through the investigation, police determined the driver of a vehicle was travelling on Shellard Side Road and attempted to turn left onto Gore Road. At this same time a motorcyclist was travelling east on Gore Road and was struck by the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Cambridge male, reported no physical injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours for the investigation and have since been reopened.

WRPS’ Remote Piloted Vehicle (RPV) was deployed to assist in the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit and additional charges are anticipated.
