Police arrest pair, seize loaded firearm in Cambridge

Two 18-year-old males also face charges related to possession for the purpose of trafficking, stolen property, counterfeit currency and stolen ID

Police say they have arrested two young males and seized a loaded firearm after a drug raid.

Waterloo Regional Police say they executed a search warrant in the area of Roseview Avenue earlier today.

Investigators seized a loaded firearm, stolen property, counterfeit currency and stolen identity documents, according to a WRPS news release.

Suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, morphine, oxycodone and cannabis were also seized, police allege.

As a result of the investigation, two 18-year-old Cambridge males were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (four counts)
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling it
  • Possession of Identity Documents
  • Identity Fraud
  • Possessing counterfeit money
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition
  • Unsafe storage of firearm
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition

Both males were held for a bail hearing, police said.
