Police arrest three in reno fraud investigation

Suspects collected over $215,000 in deposits from 11 victims and refunds were not provided, police said

Waterloo Regional Police have made three arrests in connection to a renovation scam investigation. 

Between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2 police received reports from several individuals to have home renovations completed, but the work was allegedly never done.

Through investigation, police determined that between August 2021 to February 2023, the suspects collected over $215,000 in deposits from 11 victims and refunds were not provided.

Three males from Wilmot Township, a 53-year-old, a 46-year-old, and a 37-year-old have been jointly charged with the following:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

The males are scheduled to appear in court on December 12, 2023.
