The Waterloo Regional Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Superintendent Eugene Fenton and Superintendent Jen Davis as the new deputy chiefs of police for the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
“We are pleased to welcome Deputy Chief Designates Eugene Fenton and Jen Davis to their new roles,” said Board Chair Karen Redman. “Their proven dedication and commitment to police leadership and public safety in Waterloo Region will serve the community and its residents well.”
Deputy Chief Designate Fenton is a 22-year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Throughout his career, he has served in a number of different positions, including frontline patrol, general investigations, homicide, criminal intelligence, professional standards and, most recently, as the superintendent of the Investigative Services Division.
Deputy Chief Designate Fenton has served as Chair of the Waterloo Region Integrated Drug Strategy for the past three years.
He has a Diploma in Police Foundations from Westervelt College and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in Policing from Wilfrid Laurier University.
“It is a true privilege to have been selected by the board to serve in this role,” said Deputy Chief Designate Fenton. “I am honoured to work with our board, Chief Mark Crowell, Deputy Chief Shirley Hilton, and Deputy Chief Designate Jen Davis as we continue to build strong community partnerships and advance public safety in Waterloo Region.”
Deputy Chief Designate Davis is a 24-year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of areas, including frontline patrol, general investigations, intimate partner violence, homicide, strategic services, human resources, professional standards, training and education, and, most recently, as the superintendent of Professional Development.
In 2020, Deputy Chief Designate Davis was appointed lead command of operations for the Waterloo Region COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force.
Deputy Chief Designate Davis is a board member for Langs Community Health Centre and serves on its Community Services committee.
She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Guelph, a Bachelor of Administration Degree - Concentration in Organizations - from Athabasca University, and is currently completing post-graduate studies in Emergency Management at Wilfrid Laurier University.
“I am honoured to have been selected for this position and look forward to working with the board, the WRPS executive, and the residents of this great community to provide the most effective policing to Waterloo Region,” said Deputy Chief Designate Davis. “I also look forward to working alongside the incredible WRPS members whose great work inspire me every day.”
Deputy Chief Designate Fenton will assume the role of deputy chief of Administration and Member Services and will begin Monday, March 6, 2023.
Deputy Chief Jen Davis will assume the role of deputy chief of Neighbourhood Policing and Investigations. Her appointment will take effect on May 22, 2023.
