Police say good Samaritan suffers serious injuries during assault

On Feb. 15, 2022, at approximately 7:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Chase Crescent and Henwood Drive in Cambridge.

A female was driving a vehicle in the area when she reported being approached by a male who struck her vehicle with a metal pipe. A witness attempted to assist the female when he was assaulted by the same male. A second witness intervened and subdued the male until officers arrived.

The victim who was assaulted received serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of assault with a weapon.

It is believed that the victims and the accused are not known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
