Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting in Cambridge.

On Feb. 22, 2023, at approximately 10:05 p.m., police received reports of gunshots in the backyard of a residence in the area of Elgin Street North and Bushnell Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located damage to an unoccupied vehicle parked in a lot that was determined to have been caused by bullets. Damage was also located to a residence door that was determined to have been caused by bullets.

Through initial investigation, it was determined that an unknown male suspect wearing dark clothing was observed in the backyard at the time of the incident.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident, and investigators believe it to have been targeted.

There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day as detectives conduct a canvass.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit and Forensic Identification Unit.
