UPDATE Police charge Cambridge driver after pedestrian seriously injured

Waterloo regional police have charged a 27-year-old man from Cambridge with careless driving causing bodily harm after a woman was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening while crossing near Elgin Street North and Avenue Road.

The traffic services unit is investigating the pedestrian collision that happened at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 46-year-old Cambridge woman, was transported by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Area roadways were closed for approximately two hours for the police investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
