Shelter in place alert in effect after officer shot near Hagersville

The alert was issued while officers are looking for two suspects

Ontario Provincial Police have issued a shelter in place alert in southwestern Ontario while they are looking for two suspects involved in a shooting near Hagersville, Ont. that left an OPP officer in life-threatening conditions on Tuesday afternoon.

On Dec. 27 around 2:40 p.m., Haldimand County OPP officer responded to a vehicle in a ditch at Indian Line and Consession 14 of of Walpole, said Const. Ed Sanchuk in a Facebook video.

Upon arrival, the officer was shot on the scene. 

Unknown man and woman were seen fleeing the area, Sanchuk added.

Police shared pictures of the suspects, who are believed to be armed and dangerous. 

The male suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Randall Mckenzie.

The investigation is ongoing.
