Suspect in Riverbank Drive break-in nabbed with stolen vehicle, trailer

A 31-year-old man is facing several charges in relation to a break in and vehicle theft on Riverbank Drive in Cambridge.

Waterloo regional police said they received a report of a break and enter Nov. 7 around 7:10 a.m.

The suspect gained entry to a residence and stole personal items. The suspect then stole a vehicle parked at the residence and fled the area.

At approximately 1:44 p.m. the same day, members of the WRPS’ Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Team located the stolen vehicle along with a camper trailer attached to it in a nearby area.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the camper trailer had been stolen from Wellington County.

The value of the recovered stolen property is approximately $140,000.

As a result of the investigation, the man has been charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an automobile master key, possession of break and enter tools, breach of release order and two counts of possession of stolen goods over $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Police encourage homeowners to lock their windows and doors, including garage doors, even when at home, and to report any suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.
