'Threat of violence' closes St. Mary's high school in Kitchener for two days

Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a threat of violence toward a Kitchener high school.

On May 29, at approximately 2:40 a.m., police received a call from an unknown individual who threatened to carry out acts of violence at St. Mary’s High School on Block Line Road.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is working closely with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board as the investigation continues. To ensure the safety and wellness of students and staff, the school was closed on May 29 and will be closed again on May 30 as investigators work to determine the validity of the threats.

The investigation is ongoing by members of WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
