Tip about impaired driver in Cambridge leads to arrest

Police arrested a 17-year-old youth who now faces several charges

Police arrested a driver and seized drugs after responding to a report of a possible impaired driver in Cambridge early yesterday.

On May 29, at around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Franklin Boulevard and Avenue Road, after a witness called to report a suspected impaired driver.

Officers attended the area and located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot on Franklin Boulevard and arrested the driver.

As part of the investigation, officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine and cannabis.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Cambridge youth was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by drug

  • Refusal to comply with demand

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
