The community of Cambridge, Ontario, came together to raise over $380,000 for the Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) at a recent gala event. The Hospital is raising funds to purchase a new MRI machine, with a goal of $5 million.

Cambridge Memorial Hospital's diagnostic imaging department has expanded and now requires a new MRI to better serve patients and the community. This vital technology is fundamental to patient care and diagnosis.

The Hospital's first MRI was made possible by community donations in 2012, and since then, the department has grown, attracting skilled medical professionals to care for residents. Purchasing a new MRI with the latest technology will maintain their high standards of care and improve local access to MRI. New MRI technology is more reliable, has faster processing times, and the results are more detailed.

At present, the Hospital has raised $1.2 million towards Spotlight MRI, said Taylor Patterson, Communications and Donor Engagement for the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation. She expressed her gratitude to the community and sponsors for their support.

On March 3, the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation held a “Springtime in Paris” gala where all proceeds were in support of their Spotlight MRI campaign. The event successfully raised $380,000 toward purchasing a new MRI.

"We were really fortunate our community really came together for us," Patterson said. “We're just over-the-moon excited."

This equipment will help CMH to continue to attract the best medical talent to their Hospital. By doing so, they will ensure that when anyone in the community needs medical care, they can receive it close to home.

Lisa Short, Executive Director of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, noted, "100% of funds for the MRI and all hospital equipment comes from community donations. There's no Provincial or Federal government funding for equipment.”

“It’s the generosity of our community that will fund this new MRI. Our Hospital has grown, and so has our community. New Diagnostic equipment, like MRI and our recently installed new CT Scanner, will help us keep pace with this growth and support all the patient care programs at CMH.”

"We want to thank our community for coming together and working with us towards this common goal of getting a new MRI for our Hospital," said Short.

The success of the CMHReveal gala has brought the Hospital closer to its MRI goal, and the community's continued support is crucial in achieving this aim.
