LETTER: Politicians don't care about us except during elections

CambridgeToday received the following letter taking politicians to task for their cavalier attitude toward taxes and their handling of the public purse.

It is always nice to hear all levels of government tell us how they hammered out a tight budget. Words are so impressive but the fact is taxes keep growing faster than the public finances.

Government workers and politicians seldom suffer from cost of living like the public does. The public can't sleep on a 24-hour shift and get paid like some government jobs get with full benefits. Notice how in a budget the bottom-dollar cost always seems to grow and be justified.

Government unions often have a huge impact on elections so why would politicians not give them what they want and cuddle up to them with our tax dollars?

Truth is, politicians don't give a damn about us except during an election year. Give them another raise folks, they fooled us again. Have you noticed that as soon as they get into power they vote for a raise?

Thank heavens I got a $17 dollar raise per month on my pension. We still put up with this garbage. Soon the greatest crash will come and it will not matter. Happy New Year.
