Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Medicine B Unit (Wing C, level 4) today, Nov. 18. The outbreak was first declared on Nov. 8, 2022. Measures, such as enhanced cleaning and visitor restrictions were quickly put into place and there has not been a new case of COVID-19 since the outbreak was declared.

In total, two patients were identified as having healthcare acquired infections. No staff were affected by the outbreak.

With the increasing number of COVID cases in our community and the onset of flu season, CMH continues to maintain its masking policy. Anyone coming into hospital for work, for treatment or to visit must wear a hospital-issued mask at all times and maintaining physical distancing when in hospital. Surgical masks can be found at mask dispensers at all public entrances. CMH strongly encourages everyone to keep their flu and COVID vaccinations up to date as being immunized is best way to keep yourself and your family safe from severe illness.
