There’s 4,290 kilometres between Vancouver, BC and Cambridge, Ont.
It’s the distance that former Jacob Hespeler Hawks and Cambridge Lions kicker Keiran Burnham will travel to continue to pursue his professional football dream as a member of the BC Lions.
Burnham inked a deal with the Lions after spending 2022 season with the Calgary Stampeders.
Following a four-year college career at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS where he was an Atlantic University Sport All-Star and Second Team All-Canadian as a punter in 2019, he was selected by the Stampeders in the seventh round, 61st overall, in the 2020 Canadian Football League Draft.
Burnham won AUS championships with the X-Men in 2016 and 2018.
Signing with the Stamps before the 2021 season, he spent the majority of his time on the team’s practice squad in 2022.
The BC Lions kick off their season on Thursday, June 8 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary against the Stampeders.
