Police allege Cambridge man stole from several local businesses

Officers from Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Neighbourhood Policing South Division have laid over 40 charges in connection to a break-and-enter investigation.

In September 2023, police received a report of a break-in at a business in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Bishop Street North in Cambridge. Two male suspects gained entry to the business by smashing a front window and stole cash and property, including a vehicle.

Through investigation, police identified one of the male suspects and connected him to several thefts that occurred in Kitchener and Waterloo between December 2023 and March 2024.

On April 25, 2024, police arrested a 25-year-old Cambridge male and charged him with multiple offences, including:

  • Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence 
  • Possession of break-in instruments 
  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Disguise with intent (nine counts)
  • Theft under $5,000 (nine counts)
  • Attempt theft under $5,000 (nine counts)
  • Mischief under $5,000 (three counts)
  • Possession of coin operated device breaking instrument (nine counts)

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
