A Waterloo Catholic District School Board campaign to raise funds for humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine has raised a total of $23,552.

The fundraiser began in March.

Some schools independently sent funds directly to the Canadian Red Cross, while 28 schools raised money from students and staff.

The board said Our Lady of Grace CES in Kitchener was the top fundraising elementary school, having raised $1,907.

St. Benedict CSS led the way for secondary schools, having collected $3,000.

With the campaign now over, the WCDSB is encouraging anyone who still wants to donate to humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine to send funds to the Canadian Red Cross.
