Remembrance Day ceremonies will be happening across the city on Nov. 11.

All three legions are getting ready to welcome the community to their annual Remembrance Day ceremonies on Nov. 11.

In Galt, a parade begins at 10 a.m. at 4 Veterans Way and ends at the cenotaph where a ceremony will take place. At the conclusion, the community can head back to the legion for food and entertainment.

The Hespeler Legion is hosting a veterans banquet supper on Nov. 10. The meal is free for all veterans, serving military, RCMP and veterans' spouses. Any resident who would like to attend can RSVP for $25 a plate.

The following day, a service is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with a gathering back at the legion once it's complete.

Over in Preston, a march is set for 10:30 a.m. from the legion to the cenotaph where a ceremony and wreath laying will take place. Everyone is then invited back for lunch.

In the evening, a Remembrance Day banquet is being held. Veterans and caregivers are free and anyone can attend for $25. The doors open at 5 p.m. with the meal being served at 6 p.m.

Residents can show their support in the lead up to Remembrance Day through the Royal Canadian Legion's poppy campaign, which kicked off on Oct. 27. Donations boxes are located throughout the city in grocery stores, LCBOs and the mall.

Donations collected during the campaign are held in trust at the branch level to directly support veterans and their families.
