Welcome to downtown Preston.

The Preston Food Crawl is making a welcome return July 8 from 4 – 8 p.m., when everyone is invited to come out and discover a taste of Preston.

Hosted by the Preston Business and Improvement Area (BIA), anyone can purchase a sheet of 20 tickets for $20. Participating businesses will be offering food items for 1, 2 or 3 tickets and participants can visit as many vendors as they would like during the event.

Tickets are available for purchase beginning June 18 at Bowman's Home Hardware.

“It’s a great time to check out all of the local businesses in Preston Centre,” said Shirley Bowman, co-ordinator at the Preston Towne Centre BIA and owner of Etcetera Linens and Gifts in Preston.

“And this year, all participating food related venues are under #TasteofPreston."

Bowman said participants can visit any of the participating venues and there will be lots to choose from.

“There are signs in all business windows on King St. stating ‘participating venue” and a map of where all restaurants and businesses are located,” Bowman said.

“And each business with display how many tickets their samples cost. You can then move on from venue to venue and taste all of the samples from all of the different restaurants.”

The first Preston Food Crawl took place in 2019, just before the pandemic.

“It was just over the top. It was so wonderful, people meeting up with people that they have not seen for a long time. Everyone was chatting it up on the street and in the stores. It was great fun,” Bowman said.

Kendra Brough, chair of the Preston Towne Centre BIA, said the Food Crawl promises to be a fun and delicious community event.

“In 2019, and even though we were in the middle of construction, droves of people gathered with friends to enjoy the wonderful Tastes of Preston.  This year, we are thrilled to announce that we have 15 venues participating,” Brough said.

“Not only will there be lots of yummy food, but people can also expect to see friends that they haven’t seen in a long time at this family-friendly event.  We welcome everyone to come to King Street on July 8 to have a bite to eat, and enjoy an evening of good food and friends.”

The Preston Town Centre Business Improvement Area Association oversees the beautification and marketing of Preston Towne Centre. Members recognize the importance of balancing growth and innovation and work to preserve the historic and traditional character of the downtown core.

“There is certainly something to perk even the pickiest eater’s taste buds,” Brough said.
