The Ford government has announced over $10 million in funding for health care infrastructure upgrades, repairs and maintenance in Waterloo Region.
The funding is from the over $182 million Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
St. Mary's General Hospital will receive over $6.8 million, Grand River Hospital $1.44 million and Cambridge Memorial Hospital $1.34, all from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
Five other organizations will receive funding from the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund. They are:
- Langs Farm Village Association --- $71,540
- Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre --- $258,276
- Grand River Community Health Centre --- $7,005
- Thresholds Homes and Supports --- $28,146
- Woolwich Community Health Centre --- $27,183
The announcement was made Wednesday by Kitchener-Conestoga MPP, Mike Harris.
"This funding is a much-needed investment in St. Mary's that will help us to repair and update infrastructure that is tired and in need of care. We are grateful to MPP Harris for his advocacy on behalf of our community and extend our utmost gratitude to the province for investing in St. Mary's so that we can continue to care for those when they need us the most." said Lee Fairclough, president and CEO of St. Mary's General Hospital.
