Region of Waterloo Public Health reported three new COVID-related deaths on Thursday. It raises the local death toll to 424.
The region recently switched to providing the data once a week, on Fridays. Since the Canada Day holiday falls on Friday, this week's data was released Thursday afternoon.
Local hospitalizations due to COVID are up to 15. One patient is in intensive care.
173 new COVID-19 cases were also added to the overall total, which is now 47,140. The resolved case rate is 98.4 per cent.
The active caseload is 275.
In terms of variants of concern, the region's dashboard shows 129 of those cases (96.3 per cent) have been linked to the Omicron variant since May 22.
86.4 per cent of residents five and over in Waterloo Region are now fully vaccinated. Over 1.36 million doses have been administered to local residents, including over 303,000 third doses. 51.9 per cent of residents have received a third dose.
53.7 per cent of children between 5 and 11 have received at least one dose. 40.9 are fully vaccinated.
