Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit are investigating a fatal collision in Cambridge. 

On Oct. 21, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision on Shantz Hill Road near Preston Parkway. 

The driver of a white Lexus lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. 

As a result of the collision, the driver, a 25-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Shantz Hill Road from Preston Parkway to Fountain Street South will be closed for a significant time. Hydro crews are on the scene to repair the damaged hydro pole.
