VIDEO Cambridge Santa Claus Parade spreads Christmas cheer

The parade is one of the few in Ontario to be held at night-time allowing everyone involved an opportunity to illuminate their floats and make the parade sparkle

It was a cold winter’s night as hundreds gathered for the 2022 Cambridge Santa Claus Parade on Saturday night.

Brightly lit floats, bands, singers and dancers made their way down Hespeler Road for the first ‘traditional’ parade, since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Crowds braved cold temperatures and high winds to watch over 65 festive floats, and to catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Since 1972, the city has welcomed Santa Claus during the holiday season.

The parade is one of the few in Ontario to be held at night-time allowing everyone involved, an opportunity to illuminate their floats and make the parade sparkle.

Letters to Santa Claus were collected on route along with donations to the Cambridge Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

The Cambridge Santa Claus Parade is one of the only parades to have both Santa and Mrs. Claus in attendance. Mrs. Claus has been a regular guest at the parade for over 14 years.
