JUNE 21, 1930 – MARCH 29, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dad, George Bently Batty. As he aged, one of his greatest wishes was to pass at home. On Thursday, March 28th he passed at home with family by his side as he had wished.

His true love was his wife, Evelyn Lucile. They were married from July 14, 1956, until her passing on September 14, 2010. He never stopped loving her and missed her ever since. He was the proud father of three boys George Josaphat (Regina), Craig Edward (Cindy), and Tracy Kevin. He was the beloved grandfather to nine grand children (Lisa, Robin, Gregory, Rachel, Alexsandra, Malcom, Samatha, Justine, Jody) ten great grandchildren (Michael, Kaylee, and Liam, Grace and Harmony, Isabelle and Kevin, Jason, Joseph, Mackenzie, Karlee) and four step grandchildren (Manuel, Ricardo, Micheal, Krystle). He was a kind and gentle man who loved airplanes.

One of his lifelong dreams was achieved at age 70 when got his recreational pilot’s licence. He delighted in spending time at The Canadian War Heritage Museum in Hamilton. Family was a big part of his life, and he enjoyed telling stories of his life and history to family and friends. Those of who knew him will truly miss him.

Friends may call at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, on Wednesday, April 3rd from 5-7 pm and Thursday, April 4th from 10-1 pm. His funeral service will be conducted at St. John’s Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road on Thursday, April 4th at 1 pm. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian War Heritage Museum.
